Man oh man life has been so crazy lately I feel like it’s been forever since I have finally got the chance to sit down and catch up with you all!! Between house hunting, preschool starting and going back to work a few days a week things have been busy, busy, busy! Blogging has become such a treat for me and a welcomed break from the constant crazy my life has become (good crazy!). So on that note I thought I would give an updated list of my favorite and super safe face sunscreens that make life so much easier and take the headache out of your morning routine! Remember, the main components of a good face sunscreen is to make sure its non-nano, SPF 20 UVA/UVB broad spectrum coverage (minimum), and non-pore clogging (not always so easy). I honestly feel like I have tried A LOT of face sunscreens on the market and I have finally been able to narrow down my list of the one’s that I have had the most success with! So let’s get on with it!!
Pacific Skincare by True Nature Botanicals Sheer Coverage SPF 20: Pacific can do no wrong in my book and I know I have reviewed this gem before but I just had to include it in my updated recap! Like I said before the coverage is very sheer but beautifully evens out and smooths your skin tone, leaving you with a super matte finish and preps your skin for makeup perfectly. I basically view this as a primer with SPF 20 coverage, with ingredients of broccoli seed oil that gives your skin a super antioxidant boost and pearl powder that keeps you matte yet glowy at the same time (didn’t think that was possible!), this is a great choice for those with acne prone, sensitive and oily skin types! Retail: $58 http://www.tnbotanicals.com
Suntegrity 5 in 1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen- Tinted Broad Spectrum SPF 30: If I am looking for something that will give me more coverage this is what I reach for. The texture of this is quite thick and somewhat tacky, so it’s definitely moisturizing and ideal for dry skin types!! I love, love that this is a multi-tasker but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this formula for those who are acne-prone. A little bit of this product goes a long way and covers like a foundation, so this is truly all you need in your morning routine! Did I mention this baby is FREE of : Parabens, Phthalates, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oils, Synthetic Dyes, Sulfates, Paba, Titanium Dioxide, Nano-Particles and Chemical UV Absorbers. Retail: $45 http://www.suntegrityskincare.com
Coola Unscented Matte Tint SPF 30: This is my newest sunscreen purchase and I must admit at first I wasn’t so impressed because it didn’t give me any coverage, but after a few days I realized I love the mousse like texture and light moisture it gives my skin. I use this also as a primer then if I desire more coverage I apply RMS un-cover up lightly on top and they make the perfect nontoxic pair! I highly recommend this for oily, acne prone, sensitive and even aging skin. The rose hip, flax seed and evening primrose oils do a great job at lightly hydrating and I have not had any issues with breakouts either, though I know some have sensitivities to rose hip so keep an eye out! Retail: $36 http://www.nordstrom.com
Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream with SPF 30 Non-Nano Zinc Oxide: Words cannot describe how much I love LOVE this baby. Though this one is not the tinted version, I like how versatile this is and the texture is so light and creamy that it can easily be mixed with your favorite liquid foundation to make your own custom tinted moisturizer. The smell is a faint sweet vanilla, and not synthetic but fresh and light. This gem is stuffed full of amazing ingredients that are oh so good for your skin, it’s certainly worth the higher price tag! It is compromised of organic shea butter and a list of luxurious organic oils that go on and on. There is also NO animal testing, parabens, sulfates, petro-chemicals, artificial colors, fillers, fragrances or GMOs. I did at first experience some minor breakouts but my skin got used to it and I haven’t had any issues since, also keep in mind that there is almond oil in this as some are sensitive to it! Well there you have it free birds, I hope this helps you narrow down which face sunscreen will work for your skin type! I know sometimes it can be overwhelming finding the right fit for your skin type but the most important part is protecting your delicate skin from that sun! Nontoxic face sunscreens can be on the pricy side, but look at it as a true investment. You only have one face, and one chance to protect it correctly. And nowadays you have to protect yourself from the sun AND the chemicals that are found in many sunscreens on the market!! I can assure you that these sunscreens are amazing options and will protect you the nontoxic way!! Happy Friday free birds, and I promise to start blogging more regularly again!!
