It’s no secret that I love, love, love all things Beautycounter, and yes I am a rep, but I would absolutely never rep anything I didn’t fully support or love and Beautycounter is easy to love. For those unfamiliar Beautycounter is a beauty brand whose goal is to set a new standard in safety, and their ingredient selection process is the strictest in the industry (impressive right?). Their mission is to get safe, effective and beautiful products into the hands of everyone which makes for a healthier future. I mean how could I not fall in love with a mission like that?! Beautycounter offers everything from cosmetics and skin care, to sunscreen and body care for your kiddos, but I’m going to go over some of my absolute must-haves.

Beautycounter Color Pinch Cream Blusher in “Caramel”: This pretty little gem is a new release and I already love it so much. It’s the perfect nude that works great on cheeks and lips and will seriously flatter any skin tone. This really is a true beige-caramel shade that doesn’t wash you out whatsoever! I love swiping this on when I’m in a rush, t’s a dream to blend in yet has amazing staying power so you don’t have to worry about it melting off your face in an hour! Did I mention that I’m obsessed with the sleek gold packaging?! Retail: $34

Beautycounter Color Contour Matte Bronzer No.1: If you follow me on Instagram you know this is my go-to bronzer. There is nothing fancy about this beauty, it’s just the perfect matte tan shade that makes you look like you have a REAL deal tan, NO orange, no sparkles! This is the lighter of two shades offered and it’s so easy to apply, no splotchiness or muddiness to worry about with this bronzer. For those who are intimated with contouring, this is the shade to practice with, seriously! Retail: $36

Beautycounter Color Define Eye Pencil: So, I like brows that wow and I always outline and shade mine in with a pencil first and this baby does the trick. It was actually pretty hard for me to find a nontoxic pencil option for awhile, so when BC released this I was on it! lol It’s not overly waxy where I don’t get any pigment but just waxy enough to line and shade my brows and keep them in place. I do also fill in my brows with an additional gel for an extra full look! Retail: $20

Beautycounter Color Shade Eye Duo in “Peach/Bronze”: I feel like this eyeshadow was made for me because of the warm, golden sunset tones! This is also a new release and it’s just gorgeous. The light peach shade is more matte and works perfectly on the lid while the bronze shade is shimmery (not frosty) and I love sweeping it through the crease and smudging it underneath the eye for a super sexy bronze smokey eye!! This eyeshadow is my favorite of the bunch! Retail: $30

Beautycounter Tint Skin Foundation: I use this every single day, yes i really do! I absolutely LOVE the ultra-creamy consistency and medium yet build able coverage it offers. I get compliments on my skin everytime I wear this and I’m not kidding, this gives you a serious glow from the amazing fruit oils and almond oils they use!! And believe me I never thought this would work for my skin since I’m so acne-prone but I have not gotten a single blemish from this baby! The only downside is there isn’t a SPF in this but I have no problem using the BC Protect Face Sunscreen underneath and they pair really well together. BC also just came out with Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 but I personally prefer the coverage in this one! Retail: $38

Kidscounter Squeaky Clean Body Wash: Pretty simple, basic and safe for my kids with a light botanical berry scent that I love (no synthetic fragrances ever!!). It suds up nicely so you feel like they are really getting clean and a little goes a long way!! My only gripe is that it’s kind of pricey but when I compare it to other green brands I have used it actually comes in the middle price wise, which isn’t too bad! Retail: $16

Beautycounter Lip Conditioner: This luxurious balm is really a no brainer. It’s formulated with avocado and jojoba oils and shea butter which makes for this thick creamy and ultra-hydrating balm that I would be lost without at bedtime! You can actually feel this balm sink into your lips and work it’s magic, I have one in my bag and my nightstand. This balm comes in Calendula or Peppermint, and I love both! Retail: $18

Beautycounter Rose Water Uplifting Spray: This pretty little spray is so simple but so necessary. It really calms my skin after cleansing and exfoliating and I find myself using it throughout the day as well to give my skin a little boost! I highly recommend this to assist in calming and hydrating your skin! Retail: $32

Countertime Soothing Face Wash: This gentle wash is part of BC’s Countertime Collection which focuses on anti-aging with gentle yet effective ingredients. This is a foaming cleanser that also removes makeup with apricot kernel oil and camellia leaf extracts that supply your skin with natural antioxidants. I like to use this cleanser in the morning with my Clarisonic! Retail: $40

Beautycounter Protect All Over Sunscreen SPF 30: Sunscreen is a biggie for me and I think my readers know that by now lol. Formulated with non-nano zinc oxide, this nontoxic sunscreen is my go-to that I put on everyday to protect my skin. I appreciate the fact that this sunscreen doesn’t leave me with a crazy white film because all of the gorgeous oils used in this makes blending in easy and hydrating as well! Retail: $26

So these are actually just a few of my favorites and I really, truly use these on a daily basis. I have fallen in love with Beautycounter not only because it’s safe but because it’s super chic at the same time! You don’t have to give up your love for luxurious and effective products when you go green!! THE ART OF EXFOLIATION

I have been wanting to do a quick little post on this for a while and I’m SO happy to finally squeeze in some time between all my reviews to do this!! Skincare is my TRUE passion and helping people achieve their most beautiful skin in the most nontoxic way is always my ultimate goal. I always tell my clients that the key to beautiful skin is to HYDRATE, TREAT AND EXFOLIATE, and right now we are going to talk all about exfoliation.

Ok so lets dive right in, there are SO many different ways to exfoliate, and many people think that exfoliating means rubbing some grainy paste all over our face once a week to rub off dead skin cells, but it’s really so so so much more than that. I am going to introduce you to a whole new world of exfoliating and different ways to do it, AND how much you should be doing it-which is super important!! But first, why is exfoliating so important? Exfoliating is removing the dead skin cells off the skin’s surface, and when those dead cells build up they cause the skin to look dull, rough, dry and also results in clogged pores and acne. When you exfoliate correctly you are opening the pathway for your serums, oils, and moisturizers to penetrate deeper and actually do their job properly!! Now, how often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and what you are using to do so. Common ways of exfoliating are the clarisonic, konjac sponge, face scrubs and masks, and peels. We are going to use my skin type as an example. My skin type is combination with mild acne issues and I use my Clarisonic twice (yes twice) a day, a mask twice a week and my exfoliating cleanser twice a day. Now I know that sounds like a lot but for me it works and if I skip a day, I can actually feel how different the texture of my skin feels and I can’t stand it!! Trust me, if you are dealing with acne issues, exfoliating everyday will help immensely!! So below are a few of my favorite exfoliating products and then I will get into why.

IMG_3180

Clarisonic Mia: I hear a lot of people say this is too rough for their skin and if you have really sensitive skin that may be so, but the “Mia” model is rather gentle as some of the more pricier models are a little more super-charged and may be too rough. I LOVE my Clarisonic and literally use it twice a day, everyday! The brush head is soft and ideal for any skin type, even sensitive and you can even purchase different brush heads for different skin concerns. The price point for the “Mia” is much more acceptable than her much more expensive older sister! Though there are cheaper versions of this on the market, I don’t recommend them because the power just isn’t there. Look at this as a true investment, my last one lasted me five years and I only replaced brush heads every few months!! Retail: $99, http://www.nordstrom.com

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay: This mask is a serious game changer and one of my absolute favorite ways of exfoliating. It is compromised of one ingredient, bentonite clay which pulls the impurities out of your skin. If you have acne issues this mask will be your best friend, when you apply you will feel it tighten, itch and tingle which means it’s working! After you remove it your skin will be slightly pink which means the blood is circulating and those impurities were really brought up to the surface and the results are smooth, plump, and brighter skin! I like to mix this clay with organic green tea for an extra antioxidant boost, its sooooo good for your skin! I recommend using this mask twice a week for maximum results, but if you have sensitive skin I would steer clear of this one! Retail: $9.50 http://www.amazon.com

Leahlani Honey Love 3-in-1 Cleanser, Mask & Exfoliator: It’s no secret that I love all of Leah’s products, but when I want a good face scrub, this is what I reach for. You can use this as a mask as well but I just love massaging the little crystals into my skin, it feels so good! This mask is made of Organic raw Hawaiian honey, an essential oil blend and these magical little Corundum crystals which exfoliate your skin ever so gently but SO effectively. I like using this in the morning, it wakes my skin up nicely and gives me a nice smooth canvas for makeup application! Retail: $34 http://www.leahlaniskincare.com

Pacific Skincare Exfoliating Cleanser: This gem is my new favorite and I love using it with my Clarisonic in the evening. Made with Manuka honey, and adzuki bean powder which gives it the softer scrubbing application, this cleanser is really gentle and I think would work great for those who want a softer exfoliation on a daily basis. I honestly don’t even bother with cream cleansers anymore, I always go for something that will exfoliate my skin a bit, and this one fits the bill perfectly! Retail: $48 http://www.tnbotanicals.com

I hope this helps to show you just how important and effective exfoliating is in your skin care routine. Taking that extra time for your weekly masks and daily scrubs will make you so thankful in the long run, remember your skin needs to be maintained too! čśë If you have any questions about the products I mentioned or help with your own exfoliating routine don’t hesitate to contact me! Have a great week free birds!!

THE NEW BLISSOMA DEODORANT IS PURE BLISS

Finding a nontoxic deodorant that actually performs isn’t the easiest task. I have tried A LOT and I have a few that i really like, though sometimes the convenience factor isn’t there. Meaning I have yet to find a nontoxic deodorant in a stick form that I LOVE….until now!! The ladies of Blissoma┬áso kindly sent me their new scentless natural deodorant stick and after using it daily for two solid weeks I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. Before I get into why I love this so, lets briefly get into why mainstream deodorants are some of the most toxic products you can put on your body!

Ingredients to watch out for in your deodorant, according to http://www.naturalnews.com,

Aluminum: Is a metal that is used in many deodorants to keep sweat from seeping into your pores. Although it may be effective at blocking sweat, it sure isn’t effective at keeping you healthy as it has been linked to breast cancer as well as an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

Parabens: We hear this word so often and are now pretty familiar with this chemical preservative that has been linked to many hormonal cancers, organ toxicity and birth defects! This is truly no need for this in our products whatsoever!!

Propylene Glycol: Is a petroleum-based substance that helps give cosmetics a smoother consistency. Basically it helps the deodorant slide better but studies have shown that it can damage to your central nervous system-yuck!

Phthalates: Studies show that these can be major hormone disruptors as well as increase the likelihood of cell mutation. Phthalates are also used to create a “better” consistency in cosmetic products.

Triclosan: Is very common in mainstream deodorants and acts as the odor-killer. Triclosan is actually classified as a pesticide by the FDA and a probable carcinogen by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Now that we know what we DON’T want to see in our deodorant, let me get into my new favorite nontoxic option that Blissoma sent me to try. This toxin free unscented stick is a brand new formula that they created and let me just say, it actually works!

This toxin free natural deodorant stick is a brand new formula from Blissoma consisting of mango butter, zinc, bentonite clay and baking soda. They decided to make this scentless since many people can have irritations with essential oils, so this is the perfect deodorant to layer with your favorite solid perfume OR Blissoma also makes beautiful Natural Deodorant sprays in Citrus, Lavender or Juniper scents that are built to pair with the deodorant to keep the sweat and odor at bay!! It is the perfect combo!

I have been using this deodorant for about two weeks now and the first thing I noticed was the texture. It has a delicate balance of smoothness from using coconut, sunflower and castor oils yet the clay makes for insanely good sweat prevention. The clay was an interesting component that I haven’t seen in natural deodorants before and is what makes this a standout product for me. I appreciate the fact that there is no scent to this so that I can add my own scent, most body products I use are scentless anyways so that was no bother for me. We have been having some hot spells in SoCal lately so when I applied this deodorant in the morning, it kept me dry until late afternoon which is amazing in 90 degree weather, I was really impressed!! My husband, who has so kindly tried every single nontoxic deodorant I have brought home lol, also thinks this has been the best we have tried and most effective, and my hubby is quite the critic!! One thing to keep in mind is to wait quite a while after you shave before applying this to prevent any irritation!

So, if you decide to swoop up a Blissoma Deodorant stick and/or spray for $14.99 (or more), Blissoma has so kindly offered a free shipping code for you guys which is awesome!! I highly suggest the full size (2 oz.) deodorant stick paired with a deodorant spray, it’s the perfect combo for these upcoming warmer months and they keep you SO fresh and toxin free!! The free shipping code is: BESTNATURALDEO and is good until June 5, 2015!! You can find all Blissoma products at http://www.blissoma.com where they also offer amazing skincare options and aromatherapy candles as well!! Hope you are all having an amazing week free birds!!
