I have gotten quite a bit of requests to do a post about my favorite nontoxic baby and kids products so here we go!! If you follow my instagram you probably know by now that I am the proud mama to Landon (3 years) and Kameron (7 months). After I had my son, I thought that the products I was using on him were safe but after my son got sick I did immense amounts of research only to discover that these products are loaded with chemicals that I did not want anywhere near my kids anymore!! So once I gave birth to my daughter, I was more then prepared. I did a full clean out of our bath and body products. Blogs like http://www.barebeauty.com were a huge help in reassuring me that the products I chose for my babies were safe, along with http://www.ewg.org. I highly recommend checking out both of those sites, Jessica from Bare Beauty puts a lot of time and effort into researching ingredients which I LOVE! So lets get started!!

The Honest Company Diapers & Wipes: For me this is a no brainer, Honest diapers are SO good, and I’ve tried quite a few safe diaper brands but Honest absorbs the best. My daughter stays dry throughout the night where with other brands she would leak through. These plant-based diapers are FREE of chlorine processing, latex, lotions, fragrances, phthalates, PVC, brighteners, and heavy metals.  I love that Honest wipes are FREE of alchohol, chlorine and formaldehyde; they are super gently and I actually use them for everything (wiping hands, sticky toys, etc.). Win win for me!! Wipes Retail-$4.95 Diapers Retail-Differs depending on size and amount

The Honest Company Organic Healing Balm: This stuff is pure magic, no….really it is. Kameron gets the most chapped chubby cheeks from crawling everywhere and rubbing her face so much and about an hour after of this magical balm soaking into her cheeks they cleared up immensely!! The magic ingredient is organic tamanu oil which eases inflammation and restores the skin. I use this on my hands when they get really dry too. Retail- $12.95

The Honest Company Kids Toothpaste: FREE of artificial dyes, fluoride, saccharin, parabens, gluten, artificial flavors, and artificial sweeteners. Bottom line-my 3 year old loves the natural strawberry flavor, it contains baking soda to gently polish teeth, and calcium to strengthen enamel. A good purchase! Retail-$5.95

California Baby Calming Shampoo & Body Wash: While many bath products contain synthetic fragrances that are petroleum based, Cali Baby is botanically based, vegan, no sulfates and scented with high quality essential oils. It’s pricey but a 17.5 oz. bottle lasts me for about 4 months!! Retail-$17.99

California Baby Super Sensitive Diaper Rash Cream: With organic aloe, calendula extract and naturally based zinc oxide, this ultra rich cream does the job naturally-NO synthetic fragrance, NO mineral oil. Retail-$10.39

California Baby Calendula Everyday Lotion: Made with botanical Calendula, cold pressed vegan oils and a pure calming essential oil blend, this lotion smells devine, soothes my babe’s skin and absorbs reall well. Retail-$10.34

California Baby Super Sensitive Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick (mouthful!)- NO fragrance, NO chemicals (oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate) and is SUPER water resistant. Yes, this leaves behind a noticable white residue but that doesn’t bother me, safety first!!! Retail-$13.49

Badger Chamomile & Calendula Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Zinc Oxide Sunscreen Cream- Ok, if you are looking for the cleanest, greenest sunscreen you can get your hands on, this one is it! It is non-nano, 98% organic, water resistant and it really works well! I used this on my son all through his swim lessons this summer and it worked-but it leaves white residue and is hard to rub in well. It’s completely worth it though to keep my kiddos safe!! Retail-$13.99

Beautycounter Kids Counter Squeaky Clean Body Wash: I love this stuff for my son. It has a light, fresh berry scent and lathers up really well! It is formulated without parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances. Retail-$16.00

I am so excited to finally start before and after makeup demos for you beauties!! It is super important for me to actually show you what nontoxic products can do, rather then just review products all the time! As a makeup artist and esthetician, it hasn’t exactly been easy or cheap converting ALL of my products to organic and nontoxic, but I am finally getting to a point where my kit is looking good and I can start doing what I love the most, making women feel their best by enhancing their beauty with healthy and high quality products!!  When my little sister asked me to do her makeup for a night out, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do some before and afters for you guys, and a breakdown of all the products I used so you can do a similar look!! Let me start off by saying how excited I am that my sister has pulled away from the black smokey eyes and washed out lip look (hey we have all been there right?!). Not that there is anything wrong with a good smokey eye at all, but when she asked me for a more glowy, bronzed look with a little black eyeliner I was pleased as I think it’s my favorite look to do!!

-First and foremost, I prepped her skin with Sibu Hydrating Serum. Her skin was noticeably dry due to hormones and weather changes and hydrating the skin before makeup application is imperative!! I really like this serum because it contains sea buckthorn which helps combat acne and helps brighten and even out skintone!! I applied liberally then gave it some time to really soak into the skin!!

-Next I primed her skin with 100% Pure Luminous Primer. For an all natural primer I dig this stuff, it has vitamins and antioxidants to shield skin from free radicals AND its silicone-free!!

-For eyebrows I used 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Eye Brow Powder Gel in “Taupe.” This stuff is great for a natural looking brow, it gives a good amount of color and keeps them in place.

-I lined her waterline gently with W3ll People Hypnotist Eyeliner. This smooth black eyeliner is a great option for those looking for an all natural one, it stays all day too!!

-I kept her eyeshadow simple, my sister doesn’t really like a heavy eye so I dusted Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer W3ll People Bio Bronzer and warmed up her crease and smudged a tiny bit below the eye as well. Bronze makes blue eyes POP!!

-I finished the eyes off with 100% Pure Creamy Eyeliner in “Black Tea” with a thin clean line on top and 100% Pure Ultra Lengthening Mascara in “Black Tea.” I highly recommend both of these products, they are extremely long lasting and SUPER black which I love!!

-For her face I applied Skintegrity in “Golden Light” because I love the dewy finish it gives as well as great coverage!! I took RMS un-coverup in “22” to conceal her blemishes and under her eyes.  I then dusted RMS Un-Powder on her t-zone so she wasn’t dewy everywhere (this is the ONLY powder you will ever need-promise).

-She wanted to be rather bronzy so I swept W3ll People Bio Bronzer nearly everywhere lightly for a natural sun-kissed look. To give her the perfect glow I took Kjaer Weis “Radiance” and highlighted the heck out of her (high points of cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupids bow, tear ducts).

-Lastly for lips I prepped with Beautycounter Lip Conditioner Calendula Balm (ladies this is a MUST-HAVE, my lips have been saved by this stuff!!) I lined her lips with Ilia Lip Crayon in “Come Undone” then filled in with Beautycounter Lip Sheer in “Twig.” Twig is an amazingly flattering nude that compliments any skintone!!

****I hope you ladies enjoyed this look and I am always open to suggestions for more looks using all nontoxic products!! And remember, makeup only looks as good as the skin underneath so make sure you are taking care of your body as a whole!!**** Products can be found at http://www.thegreenkiss.com, http://www.laurenvanloo.beautycounter.com, http://www.spiritbeautylounge.com, http://www.alimapure.com, http://www.ecodivabeauty.com, http://www.amazon.com, http://www.sibubeauty.com

Parabens. We are hearing that word more and more everyday but what really are parabens? And why does it matter if they are in our beauty products? To put it simply parabens are preservatives, and they are used to increase the shelf life of a product by preventing the growth of bacteria. What you may see when you look at the ingredient list on some of your common bath, body and cosmetic products are methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, isopropyl-, and butylparaben. Parabens are found in moisturizers, cleansers, body washes, shampoos, sunscreens, deodorants, makeup and much more! If you go into your bathroom and check all your ingredients in your everyday products, you may be surpsied about the amount of parabens used in everything. Ok so now that we know what parabens are, why are they bad for you?

I think Beautycounter breaks it down in a simple, yet effective way. Parabens mimic estrogen, therefore they may play a role in triggering cancer and other health issues. Some parabens can also irritate the skin or cause allergic reactions. I like to present it in the most simple way, we don’t really like to see preservatives in our food we ingest, so why would we want them in our beauty and body products? Remember, 60% of what we put ON our bodies is absorbed into our bloodsteam! I will continue to do ingredient breakdowns of ingredients you want to look out for and how to gradually go “green” with your products so it isn’t overwhelming!! Also, feel free to fill out the CONTACT form with any questions!!

**For more ingredient information check out http://www.ewg.org and http://www.beautycounter.com for a copy of their “Never List” which I swear by!!

Let me first start off by stating that I have a bronzer addiction, BIG time! In my eyes bronzers are huge multi-taskers and bring a necessary warmth to the face no matter what time of the year it is. As you guys get to know me you will find out that my daily makeup routine consists of a bronzer, highlighter, black eyeliner, mascara and a nude lip! I almost always use my bronzer as my eyeshadow in my crease, i love a warm monochromatic look!! I recently ordered the W3ll People Bio Bronzer (formerly known as Hedonist bronzer) in hopes of bringing me out of my bronzer rut, and boy has this done the trick! W3ll People describes this as ,” a truly natural sun-kissed color. That’s healthy inside and out. It warms the complexion, corrects excess redness and creates added dimension.”

I have been wearing this bronzer for about 3 weeks now and it really is the perfect bronzer! It blends seamlessly into my skin and has the ever so slightest bit of finely milled golden sparkles to give a glow when you wear it. Now don’t fret when you hear the world sparkle, because it’s very understated and wearable, no glitter chunks here ladies! On my skin it has almost a terracotta-ish tone which I never thought would work for me, but it truly just looks like a natural tan so I believe this shade will work for anyone. You will not see any orange tones or muddyness coming from this bronzer, just a true natural tan finish with a slight golden sheen. I absolutely love, love this bronzer and would recommend it to anyone! Did I mention that I’m obsessed with their clean, all white packaging that states, “Hippie tested, diva approved.” Perfection! Retail: $23.00.  You can find this gem at http://www.w3llpeople.com

**W3ll People says this bronzer is FREE from:  Artificial preservatives, parabens, chemicals, dyes, fragrance, silicone, dimethicone, pthalates, sulphates, petroleum, talc, bismuth oxychloride, nanoparticles and bad mojo.** Winner, winner in my book!!

This post is one that means quite a lot to me in that I truly hope I can help you guys solve, or help, that dreaded skin problem we almost always encounter at some point in our life, ACNE. I grew up dealing with acne in my teens. I have been on prescriptions for it, tried countless expensive department store products, ordered products I saw on TV, you name it! Long story short, my skin just never felt balanced, or healthy. After Esthetician school I really started to become more aware about ingredients and what a healthy skin routine consisted of. But it wasn’t until most recently after I had my daughter that my skin went crazy on me with awful hormonal acne breakouts, and I knew I wanted to go all natural, organic, and GREEN with my routine! I have a handful of friends and relatives who question how effective an all natural regime can be and the most common question I get is , “but how are oils going to help my skin, don’t oils cause breakouts?” Well I am here to tell you first hand that oils are GOOD, very good for your skin BUT you have to find the right ones that work for you which can be daunting at first but it’s worth it!! The second thing I have to stress to you is you have to let your skin DETOX the bad to let in the good!! Once I established what skin routine I was going to use, I stuck with it and my skin went a bit crazy for a month then like magic, the detox was over and I now have clear, smooth, balanced, healthy and radiant skin!!! I cannot stress this enough guys, give the products time to work- it’s so important!! Below are the products that have completely transformed my skin to the absolute best I’ve ever seen in my life!

Beautycounter Gentle Exfoliator Polishing Cream: This exfoliating cleanser is gentle enough for me to use morning and night. This cleanser is full of organic coconut oil, aloe, lavender and green tea extracts and gentle jojoba beads to exfoliate, hydrate and soothe the skin. Retail: $30.00

Organic rose essence and purified water instantly wakes my skin up and gives me a dewy glow! Tip: I keep this in my bag so I have it as needed throughout the day when my skin needs refreshing! Retail: $32.00

Kypris Beauty Clearing Serum: Ok guys this serum is the game changer in a BIG way! Stuffed full of botanical alpha hydroxy acids, lavender & tea tree oils, willow bark extract and centella asiatica ( an extract that help’s with acne scarring and inflammation!), 25 Active Ingredients to be exact! I apply this after I cleanse and tone, a thin layer all over my face morning and night. This serum is gentle, eliminates my blemishes without drying whatsoever, and balances my skin. I honestly cannot express how much this product has saved my skin! I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. Tip: It took my skin a good four weeks to DETOX, my skin broke out a bit at first but 6 weeks later it has never been clearer, get through the detox ladies!!

Indie Lee Blemish Stick: This baby helped me with the larger blemishes when my skin was detoxing and it got the job done! I apply this as a spot treatment morning and night and it reduces the blemish size significantly! With ingredients like zinc, witch hazel, and menthol and it being paraben, sulfate and phthalate free I have no problems adding this to my skincare routine! Retail: $28.00

Kypris Beauty Antioxidant Dew: I have done an in depth review on this product already because it truly is magical and I urge you to  check it out if this intrigues you! Bottom line, this is a antioxidant packed serum that deeply hydrates, restores strength,  and brings your skin the glow you thought you would never get! I use this morning and night as my moisturizer liberally all over my face and neck( don’t neglect the neck!). It works hand in hand with the clearing serum and the results have been amazing!

***Don’t forget ladies, drinking plenty of water, getting plenty of sleep, exercise and a good diet also contributes to clear skin! :)*** You can find Beautycounter products at http://www.laurenvanloo.beautycounter.com, Kypris Beauty at http://www.beauteabar.com, Indie Lee at http://www.thegreenkiss.com.

**Note: Please remember that not all products work for everyone since everyone has different skin types and needs. I always highly recommend getting your skin analyzed before starting a new regime to ensure the most effective results!**
